Help with alarm install.
« on: November 06, 2006, 04:21:00 PM »
I am installing an AUTOPAGE RF-215 in my YJ.  I just wanted a cheap alarm so I can hear it and run out to my jeep.  I need help finding the parking light relay output, where to get at the ignition relay. I believe it wants me to splice into the ignition switched 85 pin and 86 pin, grounded when armed.

Get one of those pedal clubs too that lock the brake or clutch pedal to the floor. They are like $40.00.

The relays for my Tj are in the engine compartment next to the battery in a long black box .

i had thought of this option but they would still be able to get into the jeep w/o anyone knowing.

I was pretty sure thats where mine are but how do i get to the wires?  take the whole box out, splice into the wires, put the whole box back?

1st you have to disconnect the battery and pull the relays, I believe, to totally disconnect the circuit, prior to touching the wires.

My alarm system runs under my dash, done at the dealer when I bought it new. I have 4 security devices on my Jeep , and I still sleep with a firearm close by, and some silent weapons as well.  My best advice is to get the factory manual , like I bought,  for a hundred and some odd dollars. It tells me everything I need to know except aftermarket stuff.

Hopefully you can get at least a wiring diagram from someone here, if you let everyone know what year your Jeep is.

Should be in the FSM.

For the record, I got a DEI Python with zone radar add on for 220.00 installed at Circuit City. They did a great job. Freaks people out when they stick their head in to look when my doors are off.

not for this job but i have them saved now. after looking at the directions some more, i needed a relay and to wire it into the ignition.  just went to a locla car auto store, only one in town that i will let touch any of my or my families vehicles,(just the jobs i cant/dont have time for).  45 bucks and everything works well. just gotta take apart the door and fix my window and door since the attempted break in.
