I noticed the same thing in my '95. First oil change since I bought it. I put on a larger oil filter ( M1-301) to increase oil volume slightly, and put in Mobil Clean 5000 10w30 motor oil. I don't know what oil they were running previously. Seems to be more valve noise. I am approaching another oil change and would like to know if I need to change oils because of the increased valve noise. I have not "used" any oil since the oil change, in 3000 miles. Engine has 118k on it.

Everyone has their own preference on oil and oil filters.  These beasts seem to like Mobile One Synthetic.  I personally use the Pure One filter in all my vehicles.

Same thing with me. I bought mine used from a dealer and changed oil and it started ticking. I have reason to believe they slightly overfilled it with oil to make it not tick when I came to look at it. They were shady with other things too. It's a great jeep though, nothing ever went wrong with anything so far.
