electric fan sending unit part#?

So... I got a cheap electric fan to put on my 2.5 now I need to get it to turn on and off cheap! I have seen the universal temp probe kits sold at AutoZone and I don’t like them and they turn on at 185* and probes are unreliable.  I am running a 180* thermostat so I would like to find a cheap 1 wire sending unit that will turn it on at 190* off at 170* or so. I know summit sells them for like $23 but there has got to be one off a Chevy or something for $8. If anyone has already done this and has a part number it will save the poor guy at the parts store a lot of aggravation lol, Thanks

autozone never has that kit around here, they just have the fans with the little probe themselves

The more i search the net the more expensive it gets... alot of people say the thermal switch should be instaled in the radiator. so now i have to find a way to put a bung in my radiator for the thermal switch. anyone know how much a radiator shop would charge to do it?

Instead of a bung in the radiator.  Why not get a short piece of copper or brass tubing the size of your radiator hose and braze a bung into it and splice it into one of your hoses.

I did something similar to this to tap into the cooling system of my boat to feed the intercooler.  Worked out great!

Copper fitting the size of the hose (1-1/2x1-1/2x1/2)
Female Pipe thread adaptor (1/2x1/2)
2 - Hose Clamps

I soldered mine but it is on the cold water intake side of the boat cooling system,  I would recomend brazing because you will be putting it on the hot return to radiator side.....
