Ive decided to be a little bold and rebuild my own transmission when the time evnentualy comes. Ive never done it before but I have some faith in my mechanical abilities. I can follow instructions easily and I have a slight perfectionist streak. Has anyone rebuilt their own transmission who had never done it before? I have the NV1500 transmission (hard to find anything about it online other than what jeeps it comes on) but I found this book called How To Rebuild and Modify your Manual transmission. While it does not cover the NV1500 it is stated that it cans how you how to rebuild ANY manual transmission. I figure if worse comes to worse and I cant get it I will have the parts already and can have someone do it. It might sound self defeating but I have a natural urge to get into the guts of things and tinker around with them. I know the basics about how M/T work and all but what am I getting into? I would do it when I have a good deal of free time to get it done right or die trying anyway.
Anyone know of any good sites with info on my transmission or if there are service manuals? Im thinking about subscribing to alldata but i need to buy a new printer.
