I have posted this before, but will do it more in depth now. I saw one advertised for $300.00. 153-200 hp depending on which year. The thing is already mated to an a-x 4 so it might be close to the same bolt pattern as the a-x 5 although I have never checked. If I did this swap I would not have to swap out the rear end, driveline transmission and etc... Just swap in the motor and com puter exhaust  Right ?         The Taurus is not much wider than the Wrangler either.

The main difference between a six and a four is the six has the momentum that the four does not have because it has six pistons spinning rather than 4. It is more powerful. The darn motor lasts forever too, it's not like it is a piece of junk motor.

Anybody know if the tranny's bolt up similarly?

we thought of that option for about 3 seconds after removing one from a torus to teach scouts how motors work.. the motor blow up because a magnet type sensor thing on the oil pump. fell off the top and got stuck in the gears of the pump locking them up vus striping the threads / gear teeth on the camshaft and loss of all oil pressure... if i would do a motor swap i would probably do a Chevy 4.3l but for the sake of saving the rest of your drive train the 3.0 may be a good road to take.

I am sure since they were there you just totally demolished the thing too. Did y'all stick an orange in the tail pipe to show the ill effects of that too  :lol:.  A little sugar in the gas   :roflol:

sorry I couldn't resist it. I needed a good laugh. Boy scouts was fun for me till 1st class scout, then I dropped out because of familial/financial troubles, a parent died.

ouch... it was another scouts car that had already died and we went in to investigate what went wrong and to see if it was worth fixing or not..

Another option for reusing your drivetrain is the 60 degree V6 family.

I looked under the hood of a Taurus and the motor mounts were on the strut tower. I have never swapped a car motor, but assume there is a way to have mount in the traditional area down low put on there somewhere. I also checked the bolt pattern of the tranny on top, but could not fit under the car  :uhoh: to check the bottom bolts but it looked scary under there with the tranny wrappimng around the oil pan.

 I like my Jeep because I can fit under there without a jack   :thumbsup:
