trans to engine bolts

On a 92 YJ are the trans to engine bolts metric or SAE?  I can't seem to find an exact fit on either one.  I get close but I have to use a lot of torque to break them and I don't want to strip one of them.

I have heard from a good source that some YJ bolts are a sort of universal fit so that either metric or SAE will work.  You will probably just have to go with the one that fits best.

The 2 at the top are E-12 star bolts, or some people call them reverse torx

Thats what the bolts holding the starter on were.  The bolts on the bell housing to the engine ended up being 18 mm.  The one size that does not come standard in wrench or socket sets.  So I bought a set of reverse torx sockets and the 18 mm wrench and socket.  The engine will be out this week.

What kind of set did you buy that doesn't have an 18mm?  Every craftsman metric wrench and socket set I've bought has one.

Both of my Craftsman sets have the 18mm but they do skip 20mm.

Ok, correction to my last post.  18 mm wrenches and sockets do not come standard in the cheap tool sets.  :finger:
