Ouch - twisted axel shaft !
« on: April 22, 2007, 07:52:03 PM »
Well - I got into the front axle to finish my 4.88 regearing job...

My front driver's side shaft is twisted!

It did not break, but the splines are twisted... and I am running an open diff.
I am suprised that you can twist a shaft with an open diff.

And things were going so well - got a great pattern on the first try for the r&p.

Time to search the junk yards.

Are you sure it was you that had twisted the shaft? Other driver's could be at fault. It could have been this way for some time.

^ Doesn't matter the wife blames me!

Could have just been a weak shaft...

I'm gonna run it for now 'till I find a cheap replacement. (Or it breaks.)
