Engine build
« on: April 15, 2007, 04:55:43 PM »
I just tore my motor down to the block.  Everything came apart easy exce[t the oil dipstick tube.  Is there anyway to get that thing out?  Also does anyone have a good line on ordering some forged pistons?  And who has the better cam sets Clifford or Hesco?

Do they have a kit that comes with it?  Hydro lifters, springs and rods?

I dont think they sell a complete kit but I bought the cam which came with the lifters and also bought a double roller timing chain kit, roller rockers, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and stronger valve springs. You have to have the head machiend for the new springs so I had them smothe out and match port it also a valve job and mill the head surface.hope this helps

How much did all that cost you?  I just dropped the block at the machine shop and picked up a set of 33's on rims, so there goes a lot of money.  I will probably get that set up like yours as well.  I need to ask them about custom push rods because the head and the block will be shaved.  Are the roller rockers adjustable?  I also went with hyperutectic pistons instead of forged, they should be strong enough and they cost a third as much.

Thanks for the info.  I'll get started with that after the block is finished.
