I tend to use whatever Dextron is available. I don't think there really isn't much of a difference between 2 to 3, 3 to 4, etc. I'd also suggest to add some Type F (small amount) to the fluid also. Its an inhibitor to the clutch discs.
Biggest thing with a seal is the flatness of the surface. Make sure its clean and smooth. If you do go with RTV, put enough to squeeze when torqueing the bolts. Let it get dry some before adding fluid. You can always make your own gasket using a cereal box.
