easy remedy for wore out rubber hood latches

I found a easy way to fix the hood blowing up with oncoming semi's, other then buying new latches.
take and drill in a 1/4 self tapper screw into the hood safety latch, head of the screw facing the grill. this makes the latch work like a shorter latch or more like a two stage latch. when you shut the hood you will need to pull the latch towards the grill and push down a bit on the hood to let the tread part of the screw pass the catch part of the safty latch. basically do the same to release it. it took me 3 tries to get the screw in latch at the right hight. to low it will still blow up a bit and to high it won't clear the catch on the grill. now my hood is as tight as my truck and it cost me nothing!
