a few engine questions
« on: September 06, 2007, 03:13:24 PM »
Its been a while but i'm back now. Alright, I did the 4.0 throttle body conversion, a K&N drop-in and reset the computer. I had great power, acceleration, and mileage. After about 150 miles it pretty much remained the same, so i thought the computer was done learning it. Then, a couple days ago it dropped back to the way it used to be like I never did anything and it picked up the kinda rough idle again too. Its not really rough just feels/ sounds like I need a tune up. Less than 6 months ago I did plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and because of a piece of crap wire tap (that took forever to find) I also replaced coil and the ignition control module.
What would be the cause of this?
I cleaned the I.A.S case (whatever you call it, the piece that the sensor goes into) after I accidently used the 4.0 and had it rev to over 5000rpm and not come down! So thats fine. I cant really think of anything else. Do you think if I upgrade the igniton components it will fix this? And the last question is should my idle be back done to about 900 where it used to be before I put the throttle body on? Cause right now it sits anywhere between 1000rpm and 1200rpm.

I can't help you with your performance loss question but as far as the idle problem. sounds like the t.p.s. is stuck. Remove it and clean it up with some parts cleaner spray. Put it back on and see how it works,
02 2.5.L automatic: 4.0L t.b., 4.0l air intake, K&N filter, Scream'n Demon coil, 8.5mm MSD Super Conductor plug wires, Stage 1 Jet Chip, 29" BFG all terrain KO's. Taurus E-fan, Hummer front bumper, Skyjacker high capacity trans pan, 48" hi-lift, Rubi susp w. 3/4" BB.

well I thought that too, so I checked it and it closes not cracked open at all. I reset my computer again and for some reason it was fixed after a couple of starts. I have no idea what happened.
