XJ front end vibration....finally fixxed
« on: March 02, 2008, 09:37:26 AM »
I'm posting this in the hope that it might help another with the same problem.  I've read a but load of posts on this subject and could not keep throwing money at it until the problem was found.  Most of the shops were of no help what so ever if figuring it out, they just sujested replace this and that.  I don't have that kind of money.
The problem started when we lifted the wife's 1993 Cherokee Country 2", it's a daily driver.  We replaced a marginal front wheel bearing, two steering stabilizers, all front end bushings with polythane bushings, front end alignment, wheels were rebalanced and checked for out-of-round.  Nothing worked, it reduced it to a bearable level but did not fix the problem.  I finally ordered skyjacker's trackbar relocation bracket and installed it yesterday.  BINGO....  It drives and handles just like it did before the lift.  She loves her XJ again.  Most things that I read said that unless you were going 3" or better you would not need any trackbar modification.  I know now that ain't true, at least not on her XJ.  The only thing left to do is center the steering wheel and that adjustment is an easy one.  I only took about 30 min to install the bracket.  It's great when the wife still thinks I'm a torque wrenching god,  and you don't even want to know what she's been calling the "mechanics" at the shops.  Well I hope this may help someone else.
Be safe,
JR
