Front End Popping
« on: March 03, 2008, 08:25:33 AM »
I have a pop in my steering every once in a while.  Got under it this weekend and I believe it is coming from my steering stabilizer.  The bushing is gone, the eye is not worn out so can I get a new bushing?  It is a rancho RSX Stab.  I am replacing my rear shocks this week and they are Rancho RSX and the bushings are ok on them I was considering to try to swap them.  Don't know if it is even possible the replace or if the bushing missing would cause the occasional pop.  Any suggestions?

If you have a lift that required a track bar relocation bracket, make sure it is tight; I retightened mine during the weekend, and popping sound stopped...  I also ordered a JKS Telescoping trackbar to replace the old track bar and the relocation bracket completely (plus, this ba suppossedly allows to "disconnect it" when wheeling for maximum flexing, which is good; in my case, I prefered not to rmove the track bar because the rig is a daily driver).

I've had the same problem lately. Yesterday I got under the Jeep and found that the bolt on the bushing end of my steering stabilizer needed to be tightened. My track bar bolt was a bit loose also. I tightened them both up and the problem is gone. I'm still hearing some rattling but it's because the bushing on my sway bar links are bad. They went bad prematurely because of the d.i.y. quick disconnects. I'm going to replace the entire link with a set of discos from JKS instead of just installing new bushings.
