Hi folks, we're David and Carol, a pair of old geezers out here in Vancouver, Washington. We've subscribed to the forum for a few months now and just kinda laid low until we got a better feel for how things go.
We own a teal green '97 TJ 2.5 and 5spd with 155,000 miles on it. The only mods on it are a 3" lift (Rubicon Express), a Detroit EZ Locker (coming out very soon) and 32" BFG KO's.
We just got home from Moab this past Saturday, our first adventure wheeling. While there we did Fins and Things, Top of the World, Rose Garden (not intentionally), and Hotel Rock.
If you have not been to EJS, you are clearly missing out on a spectacular adventure and very well planned event. And not to mention the unbelievable door prizes! We also went on a couple of adventures by ourselves (NOT RECOMMENDED) but did a lot of exploring in the four corners area. We'll be back next year!
One of the things that I wanted to pass on is that prior to heading out, I had contacted Doug Misch of Misch 4x4 regarding seat relocator brackets for the TJ. He said that he would make certain that Quadratec would bring a set for both seats to Moab and that I could pick them up there. Everyone did as they said they would do and I installed them in about 30 minutes. Misch makes a set of "Big Boy Brackets" that moves the seat(s) back a full 4". For guys my size (a petite 360 lbs and 6'6") these are the greatest! Hats off to Misch and the boys at Quadratec!
Also while there I posted a quick question re: my D35 and the noise coming from the EZ Locker. I hought I'd at least bring this up to date by saying that once I got home, I removed the TeraFlex lower control arms and most of the noise went away. From what the Eaton people said at Moab and what I've been able to determine thus far, it appears that the left side gear of the locker is binding for reasons yet explained, so it's coming out.
So that's us, we like to get out and explore. Only one more year and we can do it whenever we want! See you out on the trails!
