9th annual Great Willys Picnic and car show
« on: April 24, 2008, 01:00:09 PM »
Anyone going to this? It's on my calender.

June 8, 2008 from 10 am - 3 pm at Big Pocono State Park near Tannersville, PA

Spring will be here before you know it! It's time to plan for the 9th annual Great Willys Picnic and car show. All vehicles are welcome: stock, modified, projects, CJs, Wagons, Trucks, Jeepsters, Military, Cars, and even GPW's! Every pre-1970 Willys vehicle is eligible to win contests and door prizes. We will have a people's choice contest and an informal swap meet (items for sale in back of vehicles only - no tables allowed). Bring your Willys memorabilia and interesting parts for show and tell. Be sure to arrive early because at 3:00 PM the contest winners are announced and the prizes are awarded. Then we will have a Willys parade of vehicles driving around the park loop road for all visitors to see.

The Picnic is always free. There are plenty of barbecues, picnic tables and trees - bring your own lunch or visit the nearby Cameltop restaurant for burgers and hot dogs. Big Pocono State Park is on top of the mountain above Camelback Ski Area. It offers magnificent views of eastern Pennsylvania and portions of New Jersey and New York. For those members of the family who are not interested in Willys vehicles there are 7 miles of hiking trails in the park. At the base of the mountain is Camelbeach Waterpark and The Crossings factory outlet stores.

If you are planning to attend, bring a vehicle, or have any questions please send an e-mail by clicking here.

Driving Directions
I-80 to Exit 299 (old exit 45) Tannersville. Follow the signs to Big Pocono State Park, Camelback Ski Area and Camelbeach Waterpark.
Turn right at the end of the ramp on Route 715 N.
At the first light turn left on Sullivan Trail (PA 4002).
Go 1 mile and make a left turn on Camelback Rd (PA 4006).
Drive 4 miles up the mountain. You will pass the ski area and water park and continue into Big Pocono State Park. Make a right turn onto the one way loop road.
The Picnic will be in the first parking area (Lot #3) on the one way loop road. (Please plan to park tow vehicles and trailers in the second parking lot #4 to free up much needed space)

This one is a little closer for you.  Although it's next week.

The clowns'? Oh, yeah, the clowns. We fight them too — entire armies, spilling out of Volkswagons. We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending 'em in!
