need help with some minor issues
« on: August 02, 2008, 07:54:29 PM »
well for starters, my drivers side upper soft half wont zip. the zipper moves but is hard to move and it wont zip very well, just in a couple places for like an inch it will actually zip, and the wind tears it open. can anyone reccomend a good patch kit for small holes? also, my headhlights dont work sometimes, and if i flip the brights on and off they are fine. maybe my brights switch? how do i do a valve adjust? i might think of a couple other small things, but thats a good start?

You don't.  Unless you get some aftermarket chevy style rocker studs and nuts, there is no valve adjustment on a 2.5L.

Have you checked the conectors behind the headlights?  I had similar problems, and when I inspected them, they were shot to hell...

In my case, the plastic was brittle and the brass terminals were moving back instead of making a strong connection, so the vibration would cause the lights to turn off.  Then the next night, the lights would misteriously turn back on.

A trip to Advanced Autoparts and $5 later, they have worked like a charm with no issues!  Just get some H4 conectores and fix them if they are your problem.  Also take a look at the light switch itself; they are also cheap and easy to change, and if the previous owner (assuming you did not buy it new) rode a lot without top and got the panel wet, could also be dying on you.
