electrical help
« on: June 09, 2008, 04:02:31 PM »
ok so the guy i bought my jeep from did some pretty interesting wiring to say the least there are so many splits and wires leading to no where its rediculous, but i have been trying to remedy all of this and so far have been doing good until today lol...i noticed that my front turn signal was out so i went and got a new bulb for it and put it in...still it didnt work...so then turned on my turn signal it worked, as well as flashers...when i did parking lights it didnt work...so all that worked was turn signal, so i took a look at the wiring the middle wire on the harness was cut, however i do not know where it goes...another problem...now for some odd reason when i look at my dash the little arrow is always lit up so im guessing thats bad and now nothing works except for flashers i think that i touched two wires together accidently and that may have messed up the circuit...basically i guess i just want to know how to wire it back up to stock and get it working properly

sorry for the long confusing post lol but any help would be appreciated ask me any questions u need to

I'd say that's going to be quite a chore.  If you don't have access to a FSM, trying working your way from the fuse box (the one behind the glove box, I think that's there the turn signals are and other lights are) to the lights.  If he didn't mess with anything before the fuse box, you'll be able to trace and fix it.

Just wondering what you did to fix your problem?  I'm having a similar problem.  My side marker lights dont work sometimes. At times it is both, sometimes it travels from just the left to just the right! I have seen any splices or anything. Since it travels i thought it might be the multifunction switch. Any thoughts are appreciated.

well if there are no splices any where you might just need to check your fuses, or you might need to get a new switch column all together, but i highly doubt you willl need to do that.  If i was you i would just look at all the wires double check that there are no splices and if u dont find any i would just cut your side marker, and put a inch long piece of new wire in and make sure its hooked up to the correct line thats what i did and it now works fin i also fixed the stupid unneccesary splicing lol

let me know if this helps
