transmission fluid change question..
« on: July 13, 2008, 05:40:21 PM »
my family is going out to Colorado next week and we decided to change over to synthetic oils in our 06 Rubicon (i Know its not a 4 banger but this is the only jeep forum I go to)... so we are trying top change the trany fluid but we can't get the fill or drain plug to come lose.. they are only soposed to be at 20ft-lbs. but our bolt with welded on nuts broke when we tried to get the plugs lose (the bolt broke not the weld...).... so I'm basically wondering if there are any special tricks to getting them out...

thanks for any replies

So I assume it's a hex plug?   What I usually use for those is a hex coupler - looks like a nut except it's a couple inches long, you can stick it in both the plug and socket wrench.
