NV1500 swap out
« on: December 24, 2008, 08:19:32 AM »
Perhaps this has already been covered, so if someone has an old thread go ahead and post the link.   If not, what would be a good manual swap for the NV1500?    Mine is starting to go at the 103K mark on my '04.   I had put the GM snychromesh in it around 50K and around 90K put Royal Purple Synchromax in it to no avail....i Just beat the snot out of it with my driving job.

Would the 3550 bolt up or do I need an adapter?    If I did get the 3550 would my 231 t-case fit it or does that take the 241?

Engine swap may come down the line....probably a 4.0 since I dont rock crawl and I could use a little more nut on road trips, especialy on I-90 going over the Berkshires should I have larger tires and the back is full of camping gear plus passenger.   For now though, I am thinking stronger tranny and slight regear when I build it a bit.   I'ts going to be a gradual build when the time comes.   the 2.4 has a lot of life left in it so no point in putting it to pasture now but something to handle the riggors of constantly stopping and going and accelerating hard when neeeded.   I dont like autos (Im a control freak  )    so manual is preferred
