Radio changes channels all by itself
« on: January 22, 2009, 11:04:31 AM »
This just started today. Went to get some plumbing supplies. Got in the Jeep to come home and it switched channels all by itself. Maybe the Jeep isn't fond of talk radio. Anyway, couple minutes later it went to static and none of the preset buttons worked. Turned it off and then back on and everything worked fine after that. Seems like the O.E. radio is on it's way out. This may be justification enough for the wife to let me put an aftermarket head unit in. ::) Something with u.s.b. capabilities would be nice.  :thumb:

Not sure about anyone else, but i replaced my factory head unit early in the game, (still works if anyone wants to purchase), My alpine head unit works great excluding CDs'. Every vehicle I've had has been heck on them. 84 vette, 86 3/4 Burban. so i figured its the ride that tears up the CD capabilities. The Alpine works great for the Ipod and radio, no problems yet. But each head unit in my cars stopped playing CDs. JVC, Sony, Alpine. Under the dash does have a bit of dirt on it, so it is likely for the dirt to be effecting the player.
