I use some old TJ steelies for our utility trailer and painted them last year.......
Starting point....

finished......

The white stuff on the tires around the rim lip is the "lube" from the tire place when they mounted the new tires.

Sorry, no pics of the wheels on the jeep.
I took the wheels to the shop and sandblasted them front & back and used a couple of cans & coats of tremclad black (after priming them)

Looks good.  :thumb: I have the newer center caps but I think they will look just as good painted. I will definitely paint mine as soon as the weather permits. Actually, I'll have to wait because my balance weights are on the outside of the rim and I'll need to remove them before I paint. I'm do for tires in the spring so I'll pull the weights off myself, paint the rims and then drive down the street the next day for the tires.

Slightly OT...   I bought a GMC S15 right after they hit the market with 4wd- it was tan with "argent" wheels (stock steelies).   I picked up a couple of cans of Rustoleum Desert Tan and prepped and sprayed.  I received a lot of comments about my "custom" wheels!  The color was a dead on match for the truck.  I wish they'd have put a decent engine in it or stood behind the POS they used...  But that's another story.
