studdering issue
« on: June 07, 2009, 11:52:15 PM »
Recently my jeep has started to studder weird. Mostly happens when i try using lots of power, and after shifting. Even if the rpm is there to shift and i do then it starts to feel like i shifted way to soon, but ill still have the rpm. Sometimes the studdering dosent stop and i have to down shift and way over rev then shift back.

you can also hear it when you start up for a few seconds. but if i dont applie alot of power, like speed up slow, its not noticable or verly slight. Im not sure whats wrong.

O ya also a couple of times ive stopped at a stop sign and when i go to go, my jeep did it very bad and this time wouldnt go past 2000 rpm even in nutral with it floored, and ive had to restart it.

sorry kinda hard to explain but if u ever have shifted early and it lugs thats what it feels like

What year jeep?  Which engine?

I would start with a tune-up, look at some injector cleaner (maybe even a professional cleaning), and give the throttle body a good bench cleaning with all the sensors removed.

05 tj with the 2.5. i used the injector cleaning stuff already had no effect. it all started when i kinked my exaust 4x4ing. i ran it like that for 3 weeks and thought thats what was causing the studdering and power loss, so i cut it off above the diff and its still doing it.

could there of been a backpressure isssue that the kinked muffler would of started that stayed screwy?
