Topic: Airfilter options?

Well in the proccess of adding some new mods to my Jeep I had to remove the stock airbox and it's mounting bracket. I'm now looking into my options for replacement. I do not want to go to an open air cleaner since my Jeep plays in mud on a regular basis. I was orignally thinking I should find a TJ airbox and install it, since I would gain the front air tube. Then I got to thinking this would be a good time to install a snorkle. So I'm now looking for options to add a snorkle or some other type of intake that will work w/o needing a factory airbox. Anyone have any good ideas?

I know the ARB Safari snorkels use the stock airbox, so you would have to consider a volante periscope snorkel if you want to stay away from the stock airbox...  I think you would also need their CAI setup, though...

I'm still looking at how best to get this set-up and one of the main trends I keep seeing on the do-it-yourself snorkles ot there is they use an open filter on the end, I can see how that would work well most of the time but I'm worried about what would happen when it rains w/ that set-up.  I did see the option of the K&N DryCharger.  Anyone ever run one?  I'm wondering how well they hold up after a couple monthsof use and being cleaned a couple times.

I've got a "rock it" intake on mine, with a K&N filter. Though it needs cleaned hardcore right now heh I understand what your saying about not wanting to run one with playin in a mud and what not.

 Dunno about for the Yj 2.5, 4.0 ,but, JP did a dyno test on several a few years back and the best bang for the buck was the stock box with a fresh quality paper filter. Some of the aftermarket ones actually dropped the HP!
