was for jf since he asked if lifters are tappets. He's in Columbia i believe (he mentioned that in another thread).
Now for the scary part.....on startup, it sounded absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!! This in spite of the fact that I used Clevite's own assembly lube, had soaked the new lifters in oil for an hour, and had actually put the new oil in through the valve cover-less head (down all the lifter bores, prior to installing the valve cover). I figured I'd get oil down all the bores this way.


I am not sure on this but i think is recommended that you pre-fill the lifters with oil. Glad everything worked out and it's on my list as well at this point, thanks for all the info.

I did prefill them.....that's why I was suprised when I started it and it clattered so bad. :confused:

that would be correct. where are you from btw if you don't mind me asking?

I am originally from Panama (Cenral America, not FL), but currently live in Miami (for the past 3 years), and will move to Costa Rica in the near future (September most lkely).  Thanks for the answer...

By the way, the pushrods you can buy at Advanced Autoparts (I changed mine some time ago when I installed te roller rockers).
