Topic: Oil Temp Gauge Question / Idea

I redid the gauges last summer cause mine quit working and instead of putting a clock back in, I decided to add an oil temp gauge.  I havent hooked it up yet cause I need to pull the oil pan back off so I can drill and mount the sensor.  Now my thought was if I got two more sensors, using the one gauge and a 3 position switchs I got off a JLG manlift, hookup sensors for say the engine oil, tranny, tcase or a front or rear diff and just use the switch to chose what part of the drivetrain to display that temp?

if your question is if you can do that, then yes you can - the needle would bounce a bit when you switch back and forth but from an electrical standpoint as long as all your senders are the same and compatible with the gauge it is perfectly fine.

One vehicle i had (a bmw) was fitted with an aftermarket oil temp sensor and it was in fact placed instead of the oil drain plug - now i know is not as elegant as having it's own place on the oil pan but saves you the trouble of taking it out.
