This site has been around for awhile: http://rollyourcar.com/gallery.aspx
I've got photos around of a roll job I did on mine.  Of course, I was just rolling poly black over OEM black.

those look good. I thought you're making a joke as there were some emails around with funny pics and in one of them there was a dude roll-painting his car.

seems that most of them put about 4 coats and then wet sanded to 800 + the polishing buffer at the end but they seemed to get them painted from primer and turned out surprisingly good. Just wondering if the whole process is not overkill but it definitely saves your lungs from all the vapors not to mention everything else around being covered in paint.

In my case, I just didn't want to drop $1500-$2000+ for a polyurethane job that I was just going to bash up.  And I didn't have a place to spray it (though, in hindsight, I should say I later came across a place in the area where I could have a booth for about $250 a day [yeah, pretty steep around here]).  So, it turned out to be a low buck way to apply high quality paint; certainly not the finish quality of a good spray job, but not bad.

Do a cheap Earl Schieb paint job.

My buddy painted his toyota truck 3 years ago and it still looks good. He paid $450 with paint and body work.

I figure if your offroading alot and getting alot of body damage and scratches a cheap paint job should do even if it last 5yrs for $300-400 that's not bad.

You can't buy the materials yourself for what they charge, and there is nothing wrong with their materials.

Just do all the prep yourself (No primer!) take off anything you don't want painted.

Try and get a friday afternoon appt and see if you can pay a few bucks extra to leave it in the booth overnight.

I've seen good and bad with Earl Scheib jobs.  I think success with them depends on who's running the franchise location and so forth.    But even with them, if you order polyurethane, they are going to clock you on the high end of their price list.

I was looking to get a "$100 shine on a $10 pair of shoes" as the saying goes  So I did poly.
