1990 TBI idles til warm then dies
« on: September 05, 2010, 10:56:46 AM »
I've changed fuel pump, filter, MAP sensor, air filter, cleaned the plugs and distributor cap, no change.  Noticed that the tach goes crazy if pushed above idle-- also misses and knocks really bad above idle.  After she warms up, she gives up the ghost. What's going on?

sounds like a crankshaft position sensor or CPS but can't tell for sure.

When it's running does it pop or just stumble?

I'm with sharp, it's gotta be in the ignition circuit, most likely cps.  Jeep coils are notoriously bad and can give the same symptoms but wouldn't affect the tach.

I agree, sounds like a CPS sensor.
