YJ radiator swap

Is there any weirdness I need to be prepared for? The Jeep in question is my son's who is off at school. He will be rolling in this weekend and we plan to replace the original radiator on his 1991 YJ. I don't have the Jeep around to eyeball, so I'm hoping it is as straightforward as it seems it would be. I figure I'll replace the upper and lower hoses whil I'm at it. Any advise appreciated!

I replaced mine in July and it is straight forward just as it looks.  You might want to go ahead and replace the thermostat while you have the coolant drained.  It is another couple of bolts right up front.  If you do check your new thermostat by placing it in very hot water to make sure it opens.  Also make sure you use teflon tape on the petcock if you have to change it over from the old on and on the trany line if you have an auto trans.  If it is one of the universial radiators that have the auto cooling line taps take a piece of hose and run it between them to seal it off.  the plastic caps they put on them can come off in time.  Also it is a good time to back flush your heater core.  Drain the core then hook a garden hose to the return side and flush it out.  Doing everything it should take about two hours.

Nope, pretty easy and straight forward...

Had to pull mine because the petcock broke off one day and I couldn't get the pieces out.  I have a e-fan and stuff attached which made it a little more difficult, but stock should not be an issue.

Check out radiatorbarn.com  - They have good prices and a three row all metal unit that I like better than the OEM unit with plastic tanks.
