Sway Bar Disconnects, Tire Pressure, = Traction
« on: April 30, 2013, 01:57:26 PM »
In another thread I had ask about limited slip diff to help out when I get in to areas where getting more than two tires on the ground. The thread took a direction of other than limited slip/locker subject so I thought I'd get back with what ended up as a solution that I was able to prove work.
Originally we were out on some trails for the first time around Parker AZ and we got pretty frustrated when we could not make it up a few obstacles/sections  that looked very easy. The jeep is less than a year old to us and we had only been out a few times.

So I installed a set of JKS single point disconnects and longer brake lines. A note, if you are using the GM brake lines you may need to grind one side of the block that mounts up to the caliper to get it to line up  the banjo fitting correctly. And we also picked up an air compressor so we could drop the pressure down to a reasonable psi to run the trails. These trails we ran around 15psi. Anyway, this set up seem to be the ticket. We went back over to Parker and ran the same trails again. Didn’t need to be winched up this time! So success for us with very little $$ invested. We played on quite a few hills and rock sections to get more of a feel for where our limit was and we were very surprised on how far we could push it. One thing that I had talked about in another thread was an inertia ring that I installed. Man that thing works!! I can bog down that engine so far and it just keeps chugging along. Real nice when you cresting a hill top that you can’t see over, (but know the trail continues).

Also, I don’t remember who mentioned it but someone told me to just put my toes on the end of the foot feed, not my whole foot, to control the bouncing effect that happens on rough sections. Good tip! It works! I wish I had smaller feet or could move the seat back further.

Anyway, I appreciate the tips and information you guys gave.
