input seal on nv3550
« on: May 08, 2014, 05:54:00 AM »
Hey all,

I got a 2001 nv3550 for future conversion from ax5.  I noticed a slight oil from input shaft retainer housing, IF i get in there and decide to replace the seal, what do i use to Grease the inside of the seal for when the shaft spins??

plan to use grey rtv for the retainer.

there's trans oil in there (as you can tell from the leak), no need for grease. If you're talking about the outside don't put any as it will end up on your clutch.

also, you shoudn't use RTV for the retainer, I usually put a slight film on the outside of the seal when installing it just for insurance but that's not really necessary either (they're rubber coated so it should seal just fine)
