I just installed the Jet Performance Chip in my 97 TJ and it might be the best mod i've done yet.  My off the line power is much better, the shift points have changed for the better and it only took five minutes to install.  If you have a 97-03 TJ it might be the best $200 you spend.

Does it say anywhere that you have to  use premium gasoline, i have heard that atleast for the stage two chips you have to  run  91 octane???

As far as I know I don't (it runs fine with 87) but I only put the stage one chip on.  I don't think that they make a stage two for the 2.5l.

I would believe it.  I was really impressed with the difference that the stage one chip made.  I will be intallinga header and 4.88's soon and I can't wait to see the difference then.

There is still a lot of room to play with in the stock tune. I'm assuming some of you may be experiencing better MPG also. The stock ECM idles in the low 14s and cruises at the same AFR, but when you go WOT there is a big rich spot [as in hits high 10s low 11s:1 afr] (I'm assuming where peak torque is).  With such a conservative fuel curve i'd bet the timing curve is just as conservative...

I ran a stage I before all the engine mods and really could tell a difference, and the stage II seemed like it made all the electrical, intake, and exhaust mods just come together. I couldn't believe the difference that a 3 minute install could do! Someone had asked about octane, I run reg unlead at 87.

How much was the stage one chip and is the stage two  worth  the extra money, and do  they  make them for the 2.4l???

so, you run regular 87 octane with the stage 2? i was thinking of "chippin" but with gas prices so high it kinda deterred me from it. but if the stage 2 is running fine on the 87, then it seems to be worth it 100%!

Do they make those chips for the 91-95 YJ 2.5's?  I haven't seen any around, ever.  Know they have them for 2.5's TJs and I think the later 2.4's

I called JET, years ago...   Our Jeeps have to OBD1 computers (or a number kinda close to that).  It's not a learning computer.  Everytime they tried to reprogram the computer with one of their performance chips, it kept going back to stock.  It was weird, I thought they might do a custom one for me...  days went by and they told me the bad news...

I hope that someone else has better news...

Yes we have OBD1 ecus, OBD1 is simple in the world of ECUs. If someone had a program, im sure they could rechip the stock ecu just like most imports do (maybe domestics too)

Talked to the Jet rep at the 4 wheel parts expo in Dallas.  He said Stage 1 for regular 4 banger and Stage 2 for 4 bangers with a hotter cam.
