Hello!,
Names Jeff and been an avid jeep owner/wheeler for the last 28 years. On my third jeep...first was a 76' CJ 7 with an I6,with old Clifford research mod's, 31's, and 2" spring lift.  #2 Was a 82' CJ5,I6,fact 2bbl, 1"rancho soft ride springs, and 30's.
Was originally looking for a CJ3B but found a great deal on a 2001 TJ with: AMC150, 9.50/15's, and only 40k miles on it!  Have added some new Shocks(KYB BR2's), replaced the factory steel wheels with some 7"x15" aluminums, and have always ran the BFGoodrich AT Radials...seem to have been the best compromise.
Cannot believe the difference fuel injection has made in the off-road performance! This little four seems to be able to go where my old carburated I6's could, with lots more comfort!
Glad to be here!

Greetings,

Just joined the site. I live up in the mountains of east Tennesse. I have been off-roading for the last 28 years and this is my 5th Jeep. I am using this YJ as a DD and a moderate trail rig. My main rig is a 1983 Dodge 3/4 ton big-block powerwagon on 38.5 groundhawgs.

My wife and I love to take the Yj out on the backroad and trails. It gives us something to do together and we have joined a couple of local Jeep clubs. We have run some easy/moderate trails at Windrock and Royal Blue recently. Just like everyone else, my Jeep is a work in progress. The big brown christmas truck dropped off my new RAT top, wheels, D-rings and other stuff, yesterday afternoon. I know what I am going to be doing this weekend....

A rundown of my Jeep. 1995 YJ, 2.5 4-banger, ax5, np321, D30 front (OX locker / 4x4 posi-trac), D35 (31 spline axles, locker), 4.88 Yukon gears. 3 1/2" suspension lift, 2" bl, 3/4" shackles.... quick disco swaybar, 33/12.5/15 BFG ATs, Tuffy security console and trunk, cargo rack, KC lights, Ramsey REP 9000 winch, off-road bumpers and swing out tire/jerry can carrier.. and other stuff.

Looking forward to joining in the discussions. If anyone is local to east Tennesse, give me a shout so we can hit the trails.

Be Safe

Hello all....newb here from good ol Utah! My buddy whom is a member here invited me over (thanks utwrangler25). I've been a Jeep owner since 2006. My first Jeep was a 1994 Cherokee 2dr. with the 2.5 mpfi. Great rig, and got me hooked. Following that were some ZJ's and a Liberty for the wife and now I have a 1989 MJ. It is a 2wd with ax5 d35 and obviously the 2.5l. Hopefully soon it'll be nothing like it is now.

Hello, All,

Been lurking here off and on and decided I ought to finally jump in. I drive a  mostly stock 99 TJ SE, manual, 30" General ATs, cold air intake, 4L throttle body, Detroit True-Trak limited slip, hard top with a Yakima roof rack. Its my daily driver but I'm looking at getting an inexpensive economy car for the DD by next summer and keeping the Jeep around for fun and maybe doing some work on it.

Later,

Ogg.

25 and the wife and I just got our first jeep (98 TJ auto w AC). Came w 155k new soft top
warn winch on a home made Winch mount (not the best but it works) and a farm jack (high lift) and some scratches that the wife can't stand. It's her DD so I'm limited to mods for the time being. I drive the jeep of course and my 05 f150 4x4 winch and to many mods to list. Can't wait to soak up some 4banger knowledge!  New to the jeep world so any advice is more than welcome.

Hi,

My name is Len, and I'm a Jeepaholic.

Ok, that's outta the way.
Lisbon, Ct
had a few CJ's back in the day, came across a decent deal on an 88 wrangler with 88000 miles on it.  4cyl, 5spd, red, no rust or rot anywhere.  Shiny paint when I was it.  Not now, when it was trail scratches on it.

1" shackles, bent to heck, getting replaced with 1" boomerang shackles soon, already have them, just need to install.
Cheapo 8000lb winch, new, but cheap tractor supply special, got it brandy new for $50, so it's good enough for me.
other than that, bone stock.

I guess this is a re-introduction. I was on the old site a few years ago and after my industry collapsed I didn't have much time or money for any serious upgrades to the Jeep. Things are a little better for me now and I'm again able to at least consider some things. For a while things were so bad I couldn't even afford to go off road!!  :'(  Plus I dropped the insurance back to just liability which makes risking the DD much more of a consideration. I'm paid ahead on the insurance but come January I'll be beefing up my coverage again!
Any way - I drive a 2000 TJ. I have the 4.0 throttle body installed, have for years actually, and purchased it from a fellow here on the (old) site. I can't remember the jeepers handle, but I believe he hailed from either Tennessee or Kentucky. I remember shooting him an email when I received the TB asking if he had sent me a brand new one by mistake - it was that clean!! i also remember people having to swap the sensor housing on the side of the TB's because of idle issues. I never swapped mine out because I never had any problems, and I still don't!
I've run a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift with 33x12.50's of some type or another for just over six years now. I started with TrXus Mud Terrains and am currently riding on Goodyear All Terrains of the same size.
When I got the Jeep it was stock height but the 4 running tires had 15x8 Eagle Alloys and 31x10.50 Goodrich Long Trail's. It was sporting the stocker 27" temp tire on the spare mount which lasted like 5 minutes once I got it home. For basically a big car tire those Long Trails actually performed pretty well on average trails. And more than a few times in the rough!!
My buddy is Stone White and until two weeks ago had a Spice colored top and interior. I finally replaced the factory soft top, with just a simple, black w/tinted windows, Replace-a-top. He looks like a brand new boy! If the replacement lasts as long as the stock top I'm good for ten years! My born-on date is December 1999 and I just replaced the top!! The interior is still spice, minus the carpets. Pulled those out a few years ago. I do have the Bushwacker liners in the floor - great purchase!! I haven't had the back seat in there for some time now, but since I have a complete set of black neoprene Coverkings on the way I'm thinking I'll put it back in. Which leads me to a whole new set of ideas for my boy! Like: Is it easier to pull all the interior panels and paint them black or try to find a wrecked Jeep with the panels I need? or How big of a sub can I shove beneath the rear seat if I get that riser used for the under-seat drawer for extra clearance? you know, simple things!

And that's what I'm up to.

I always remember this site being a friendly place to chat and share and I'm sure it still is. Especially since I'll be posting all kinds of stupid questions as I get back into the swing of things!

BTW - I live in Central Virginia and owned my first Jeep in high school, and just like everybody else, regret having sold that first one. it was a '75 CJ5 with the "Iron Horse" AMC 304 V8. They really don't make them like that anymore! One of these day's I'll find that Jeep and buy it back.
Two other members of my family have Jeeps, a '97 TJ 4-banger and a '98 Cherokee Sport, and we all enjoy hitting the trails together.

Maybe we can hook up with you sometime up on Shoe Creek!

I have a 97 Wrangler with the 2.5l Auto trans. soft top with hard half doors.  I have upgraded to 31 inch studded tires.  Just got a 4" lift that needs to be installed this winter along with a huge list of other items.

I previously had a 1990 YJ and 1984 CJ7 both with the 258 motor.  I buy and sell most of my parts on CL so needed to go newer as the supply of CJ and YJ stuff is disappearing.  More TJ and JK stuff lately.....you know kind of keeping up with the times....lol

I am also part of a local group called ColoradoJeepPeople on Meetup that I do runs with but most of them have the 4.0l motors so are of little help.

I am excited to be part of this forum and hope to learn a lot from those that have been enjoying their rigs for a while.  They call me Clutch in my other groups.

My name is Fred.  I live in Georgia and my 1998 2.5l TJ is named Kirby.  I've added a 3" lift, Aussie Locker, and an ARB Snorkel as a start.  Kirby prefers topless.  I'm glad to be hear and willing to learn and share

Hi,
My name is Bill.  I have a 2000 TJ I got about 1.5 years ago and have been working on it steadily.  I now have a 4" lift with 33" MTZs.  I run with ARB ockers front and rear with a stock D30 in front and super35 in the back.  My 4 popper is slightly anemic on the highway, and since most of my rides are 3 hours away, I'd like to make it a bit better on the highway.

I'll be looking for info on upgrades and trends.
