Hello Everyone,
I live in Southern California and have always been a fan of Jeeps, but have never had the opportunity to own one until recently when I purchased a 1989 Jeep Wrangler YJ from a private party that sold it because they had a baby on the way. It had 68,000 original miles on it when I bought it about 6 months ago and I feel that I got a really decent deal on it. I have put about 5 or 6,000 miles on it since I bought it and done a few minor repairs and have done some minor restoration work and mods on it since I have gotten it. It's very clean, with nice original paint and interior. No rust at all. Never been off-roaded or beat up that I can tell. Runs great. But, we call it "The Hill Finder" because it is so underpowered on the freeway and when climbing hills. I use it as my daily transportation, so I have a love/hate relationship with it. It is great when I am not in a hurry to go somewhere or do not have to keep up with traffic on the highway. The whole family loves to cruise along the beach during the warm weather and it's a lot of fun to drive on the weekends. But, man is it tough to deal with mountainous terrain and highway driving. I love this Jeep because it is so clean and in such fantastic condition for it's age, but I often find myself wishing I was in a later model TJ with a six banger. Came here to see if I could learn a few tricks from you guys on getting a little more go-juice from the ol' girl. Looking forward to learning a few tricks of the 4-banger trade.
