For those that have replaced a motor, what was the cost? Purchase price of rebuilt motor, and labor for install?

It's the rearmost, seems it's the one everybody mentions.  I've been putting off doing it but should get to it soon.

135,000 and doing fine. I had to do the rear most stud. It was'nt that bad fella's ! Just use a drill extension cable and do it in 5/16 fine thread with the manifold in place. Bout two hours going slow..... I hope to get 150,000 before pulling the engine. I thought about getting another engine and working onit in my spare time.

So how are these manifold bolts breaking?  Is it something we ought worry about, or is there some weird extenuating circumstances?

2.5 exhaust manifolds give out between 60 and 100,000 miles with a nice crack on the inside towards the head. R&R with a header.

Use pb nut buster prior to any attempts at taking one of the head bolts off, or any nut bolt combo that has been sitting awhile. I am old enough to know that experience is a mans best friend. I have had my share of breaks and sich.
Second thought, no pb nut buster. :P

100,300

Replaced:

Alternator twice
Battery once
battery cables once
Rebuilt AX-5 twice, swapped in NV3550 (Basically on my third transmission)
Radiator is leaking
Thermostat once
Fan clutch once
Broken exhaust stud

The engine itself still has good pep and great oil pressure. No rust on the Jeep. Paint is still great. I expect it to last another 4 years at the minimum before it hints at any engine malfunction.

Am wondering whether with newer engine oils, synthetics etc. people are going to tend to get longer life out of their engines:  average 100-150k becomes maybe 200-300k.

Course, though the engine works ok, the rest of the vehicle is going to deteriorate.  I'm painting mine, because the paint is basically shot at 140k - I haven't really helped along the paint too much, though
