What do you all do different to your Jeep for snow driving? I might have to move out of state, and I hear you have to put weights in it somewhere. Anyone want to share some stories? I got 30" yokohama all terrain 2's about 6 months ago, and an ARB rear.

hey i have those tires on my s10 they work good in the snow and ok on ice.(main problem is i have no weight in the back of my truck)... if you need more traction put weight either on your rear wheel wells or behind the backseat.. basically anywhere at or being the tires will help (further back the better). i don't get to use my jeep as a dd so i haven't driven it in the snow very much.. but by the sounds off it alot of other people exsperiance it alot.

My TJ on 31 inch mud terrains pulls right through the snow in 4 wheel and doesnt do bad in 2 wheel most of the time, no need for weight at all here.

I think if it were a truck I would worry about throwing sandbags in the back, but as our jeeps are pretty close to 50/50 weight distribution I don't think it would be as necissary

I don't use any weight either. In fact I never have in any of my vehicles.

My Yj is usually my DD.... and I get to drive in snow quite often.  Only reason you should need any weight added is if you had a Snow Plow hanging off the front.... then they say to put a couple hundred pounds out back.....  With any luck I might get a plow for mine this spring and try to rig up a quick mount that doesn't leave anything below the front bumper when taken off... I don't run my 31's in the winter months....ticket to best traction in snow on the road is "skinny" tires( I run my 225/75/15 AT's) to keep more psi on the tread..... Nothing replaces a little bit of experience in the seat with whatever tire you run though, and just 'cause you can leave a stop light faster than the minivan next to you...... doesn't mean your stopping/turning any faster than they would.... For example the one I saw slide through a redlight on the way to work today..... he learned the hard way that the brake pedal get's you into WAY more trouble than the gas pedal! :nono:
but 30's shouldn't be bad. anyways that's my 2cents worth......

What ever you do don't start talking about hondas in the snow.  People seem to get really pissed about that.  Trust me you don't want that kinda heat. :guns:

No weight here. Just throw it in 4wd and go. Oh, and I'm running all seasons right now. You shouldn't have any troubles.

Don't add any weight unless your Jeep is way out of balance for some reason (big ass winch, bumper, etc. up front).

The Jeep isn't wide, but the extra weight will still cause it to swing out on a slick surface if you turn too hard.

4WD is all you need.....weight only worked for old crappy rear-wheel drive cars made before 1980.
2009 Audi S5....what....its 4wd...sort of....
