I did this mod today but I am still in the process of switching axles so I will not be able to fill up and test it out.  How long was the piece of hose that you cut off?  It was only 5" on my tank and I had read that it would be 8".  It was so hard to get the freakin fuel pump back in!!! That was the time killer on the project for me.

The piece I cut off was only about 5" as well.  I was wondering if it would make a difference, but it does.

Fuel pump went back in OK, but I cussed that bezzle ring a blue streak trying to get it threaded right...
