Ford Design III Injector install
« on: March 20, 2009, 09:04:09 AM »
So far I'm not thrilled, I might have felt alitte something. I put them in ,a cleaned set, new o-rings etc.  Am I expecting to much? I already have the 4.0 throttle body, a TB spacer, cold air, MSD ignision and MSD coil, copper plugs with a .45 gap, electric cooling fan.
What else for a cheap buck, shade tree mechanic, on a 2.5L monster.
My next little project is to open up the opening in the intake to match the bigger TB and spacer. I do have 4 left, I bought 8, they are " You are looking at a beautiful set of Ford 19lb. Injectors. They are design 3 and will be a great upgrade for F-series trucks, Mustangs, Thunderbirds, and Bmw's. These are the 4-hole squirter type so they provide better fuel atomization so that means BETTER IDLE AND MORE POWER." I might sell the other 4 for $30.00 shipped east coast, $35.00 West Coast.
This was not an advertisement. Looking for perfomance help.
Thanks in advance, and keep up with my posts , I will have updates on my (Jeep's) upgrades, Glenn

With a system kept fresh and upgraded such as yours, I expect you've used injector cleaners and such... therefore you're less likely to notice as much of a difference. Had any time to compare gas mileage? It could have gotten better without adding much power. I've read that the biggest difference is idle being smoothed out, especially with good mods like yours.

I might be interested in your remaining injectors, I'll let you know within a week.

Your right,  I always use Lucas Injector Cleaner. I just did them and have not had a chance to check mileage yet. I guess that every little thing helps. I does run pretty good compared to what people usually say about 4 bangers. I like mine. Let me know about the extra 4 injectors.
Thanks, Glenn

No I have not, do I just need to disconnect battery for awhile?
That might adjust to the new specs?
Thanks, Glenn

Ground the positive cable to the negative terminal for fourty seconds, it'll erase the capacitive memory in the ECU fully, disconnecting it alone may not do the job.

and I'll let you know...

Resetting the 'puter helps ensure that it has properly adjusted to any new changes.  The ECm learns new operating parameters over the next 50 warm-up cycles.

Any updates?  I just swapped my injectors yesterday and did the 4.0 throttle body while I was under the hood.  I couldn't really tell a difference but I haven't had it in the mountains yet.  The first climb out of Denver on I70 has always required quite a bit of flogging to maintain 60mph...I'm thinking this will be a good test.  Maybe next weekend.

Well, I have had the injectors installed now for awhile. I reset the computer and drove for a week or so. I now can really feel the difference in the top end power. I can actually speed up in 4th gear. Anyways, I like the change.

Add a hotter coil if you haven't already done so, and you'll see even more improvement  :hump:
