there's no plug on mine either, but it's a 95 YJ 2.5L - i didn't think they changed the block though  :puzzled:

if you remove the starter, i have a rubber plug in the block, above the starter

not sure man ive got an 86 xj and have had the starter out a couple times recently and didnt notice nothing rubber. are u sure its a plug and not some sort of rigging someone stuck there as a shim? although i doubt it. did you pull it or anything? my block gets real hot, would defiantly damage a rubber plug if i had one.

ok pulled the starter and took a pic....
