Connecting rod nut for the '00 2.5L has been on national back order since April, at least, with no eta.Can someone suggest a source for new nuts, p/n J4006385, nut, hex flanged, .3427-24?Thanks in advance...Bruce
I understand that it's close to an 11/32 but it's metric. Not interested in attempting a mix.
Is this a low power rebuild, or are you running boost?I would take the conn rods to a machine shop and have them set up for bolts instead of nuts http://www.arp-bolts.com/.That's what I did on my last engine build.
I'll look into it - thanks. The specs I listed above are copied directly (copy/paste) from the 2000 TJ IPC.Relatively low power build - cam, up-sized tb, banks header, hi-flow xhaust. That's about all.
if it's the first time they were taken off you can reuse them - i know the FSM or rebuild manuals say to use new every time but it is ok (i reused these for higher output engines and never had a prob), other guys here can confirm that i think. All this given that they are visually ok. Just make sure to torque them to specs. But if you want to go by the book that would mean new ones.
we have reused the nuts for the connecting rods on our willys motors multiple times.. aslong as they aren't obviously damaged they are good to go for most cases
Well, I gotta tell ya, I've never re-used them before but I've only build airplane motors and it's the law.You guys have gotten me to thinking, however. I do appreciate the input. This Jeep is my dd and will be getting mostly highway miles - you both still feel like the originals would be okay? None are damaged.
