My TJ is acting like it is missing power.

Ok, so mu Tj is a 2.5 and it is acting like it is missing power. Could it need new fuel injectors with new cables. They havent been replaced for 3 years. Could it also need it fuel filter replaced? I have no idea where to start on this.

fuel filter it's a good thing to replace, won't hurt. If your injectors have been replaced 3 years ago I would leave them, they would function just fine for another 5 years at least (depending on the mileage but 100k should last no problem). If they were replaced i would just make sure they are the right P/N and not something else, do you get a Check Engine light? if they are the wrong size your PCM would throw a CEL.

Do you know where the fuel filter is on the TJ and if it is hard to replace. Also what brands do you recommend for the injectors, cables and so on.

don't know how hard is to replace the filter on the TJ but if it's the same as YJ it's not that big of a deal.

for injectors any of the big brands would be just fine (Chrysler/Mopar, Bosch, Denso, Accel). For an upgrade in your case since you have a TJ i would go with a 5% larger injector like the accel 150x23 (x stands for the number of injectors in the kit, 23 is lb/hr at 43.5psi and since your TJ is running at 49 that would make it 24.4lb/hr at that pressure which is 5.17% increase in flow)

why do you want to replace the "cables" ? you can't really just replace them, you'll need to cut and solder pigtails or replace the whole harness

What about replacing the spark plugs. They are also 3 years old. What brands to go with them?

For injectors you can use the search tool, I wouldn't suspect them right away.
For spark plugs, ignition wires, rotory cap and rotor, fuel filter, airfilter, etc. you can go to your dealer and ask them for parts or use websites like rockauto.com
These parts you can buy also at your local carshop.

Regarding brands: for these consumable products you can use almost every brand from Crown to Mopar.

If it's been a while or you don't know when one was last done, do a tuneup... new distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, spark plugs and air filter.  Stick with big-name parts when there's a choice, stay away from fancy/gimmic stuff that tries to claim some sort of power increase.  Grab some throttle body cleaner, pull the air intake off, and clean the carbon and crap out of your throttle body.  Unless you've been running poor quality gas for a while or leaving your gas cap off, your fuel filter is probably fine.  If you really want to replace your fuel filter, have some fun with that - it's mounted to the bottom of your fuel pump in the tank.

So maybe I will start with all above and then in the end take the fuel filter

My personal experience with Accel ignition parts hasn't been a good one, they tended to require replacement again not terribly long after they were installed.

On the TJ the fuel filter is in the bottom of the tank. And it is TRUELY lifetime. I don't have a picture (didn't have a camera at the time) but it is a fine stainless steel mesh screen that is about 4"x6" definitely not worth replacing unless you have strong reasons to do so. Like loads of crap in the tank or solid proof that it is plugged up. I would start with some of the other simpler stuff in the thread first. That being said. The TJs do have drain back valve problems the drain back valve is in the regulator on top of the tank. I had to replace mine a year ago or so. That will usually present itself as a slow start not a loss of power once running. The drain back valve is easy to diagnose with a fuel pressure gauge put on the rail watch the pressure at idle, then shut off the rig, if it drops quickly after shutdown the drain back valve is on the way out. Mine would drop to about 20psi after 5 minutes.
