I have a strange and intermittant electrical problem and would appreciate any ideas. Car is a 2000 TJ 2.5 Pertrol. I went out today today see my daughter and the turn indicators were not working. Did a bit more research and discovered that the wipers were also dead. After about an hour of driving around like this they both started working again. Parked up for a couple of hours, then went to head home and both were dead again. Lights, horn and everything else seemed OK. Got home all still dead tried wiggleing all the fuses no change. Went and got a coffee came back and they were working again.
Any ideas much appreciated.
sounds like the accessory circuit off your key contact (if all the fuses are ok). On my YJ there are 3 fuses fed from that circuit: 1. winshield wipers motor and intermittent control module, 2. turn signal and 3. Cigarette lighter and Radio
On the YJ fuse block there is a circuit braker that powers the winshield wipers (not a fuse), not sure if that's the case on the TJ or not - but if both turn signal and wipers aren't working and just by analogy with the YJ setup I am guessing it's a key contact problem for Accessory power (so the Run circuit is fine as your gauges and engine work).
Check if your hazards are working (they should) and if your radio is working (if it's the same as mine it shouldn't if my assumption is correct).
