Smittybuilt rear bumper/tire carrier combo?
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:30:26 PM »
Tax return shows up soon and I'm already trying to decide what to spend it on  :wall:

In particular- I'm thinking about getting the Smiitybuilt Classic rear bumper w/ swing out tire carrier combo

I've heard mostly good things about Smittybuilt and everything they build. I know a handful of guys with their tube fenders and they look bitchin and seem to hold up great.
My only real concern is the spindle... It has a built-in grease fitting so obviously I can regularly grease it. But do they hold up well over the years?

I haven't been able to carry a matching spare (I do on trips anyway) since I was on 33's, and I'd like to be able to have one, and carry a hi-lift, AND my current rear bumper is a POS anyway. I just don't want to feel like I'm taking the "cheap" route by getting what seems to be the cheapest unit available.
