Anyone know wether the O2 sensor in the cat for a 97 TJ should be pointed torwards the front or rear

if I understand correctly you are replacing the cat and you're asking which way to install it?

the second O2 sensor measures the cat efficiency, i don't have a TJ but I'm pretty sure your O2 should be towards the muffler and not towards the engine/downpipe side (EDIT: so it samples the exhaust gases after passing thru the cat).

anyone with a TJ should confirm though...

Jeep doesnt have a cat right now... replacing the entire exhaust ststem w headers cat and the new magnaflow off road pro series catback thats why I needed to know. I figured it was on the muffler side but I wanted to be sure
