AX5 noise
« on: April 10, 2011, 02:39:36 PM »
I have noticed that when I'm in 4th gear and let off the gas I get a rattle from the transmission.  I don't notice it in other gears. It is more than likely time to change the fluid, I don't know if the previous owner ever did and I'm at 153k miles. The trans shifts fine into all gears, but seems maybe a tad notchy at times. Has anybody had any similar issues?

Thanks,
Joey

if it shifts fine i would think more on the lines of transmission mount, driveshaft or exhaust/cat to be the cause of the noise

I sure hope so. I do have an SM465 that is begging to be swapped in though.  I guess ill see if I can find something else causing the noise. My main goal is to get 200k miles on the original engine and transmission. If it breaks after that the 465 is going in. Hell I got a 350 too, that might make for a fun combo.

The demise of my last AX5 started as a rattle in one gear, then began rattling in other gears before the bearings got really loud.  It could be the beginning of the end.
