Anyone know anywhere I can get one of the mopar performance "purple" cams? I have been looking on the net for about 2 weeks now and can't find one anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They haven't been made since 90's.  Most were made during the early 90's.  Places started liquidating them back in the early 00's.  You'd be really lucky to find a NOS cam.  I believe some places do sell them for full price though.  You'd have to check with a Dealer.

Try contacting some cam companies.  I know that a few would custom grind me a cam for my go-cart, I am sure they could grind one for a 4banger.

I just ordered an RV0B4 cam and double roller timing chain and gear set from Hesco today. The guy at Hesco I talked to named Benny or Denny (don't know for sure do to bad telephone connection) was very helpful and a pleasure to do business with. I had many questions, he took the time to answer my questions, was very knowledgable and fixed me up with everything needed to do the install. I also was looking for a Mopar purple camshaft and considered trying to have 1 duplicated by a custom cam grinder. I made several phone calls that were never returned so I just decided to go the Hesco route.

Sounds like you are as anxious as I am !!!!!!!!!!!! I work overseas and I'm currently at work. I don't return to to good ol US of A until April 19th, so I should have everything done within a week of getting home, I'll post up when it's all done and let everyone know how it turns out. I also have a 4.0L TB and spacer, Accel ignition coil, electric cooling fan and 120 amp alternator that will be installed at the same time. I'm hoping for some real good results from all these parts. The Accel ignition coil should allow me to open the plug gaps up to .045 - .050, I will port match the intake to the head and the 4.0L TB and spacer to the intake, the electric fan should help some also.
Still need a port matched header and 4.88 gears. Hopefully these parts will increase my engine performance enough to offset those 33" tires a little bit, until I can get the 4.88's and install them.

i ran a clifford performance 426 cam in my motor and it works great.  I got a kit from them that was about $400 total.  i got lifters, puchrods, springs, locks, seats, and the cam.  It made a big differance for me but I don't know what it would do to a stock motor because I custom built my whole motor.

cam has been in about 6 months and about 1000 miles and everything is good.  Has lots of power and doesn't seam to be putting too much stress on the motor.  All the build work I did on the engine,  I know the cam is where a lot of the power came from.  The only things I had to do where bump up the idle a little and I'm thinking I could use more fuel and possibly more gap on my plugs.  I only run 45 now and am thinking of running 55 for a while and seing what I can get.  I need to hook in an AFR gauge first though so I can more easily tell how the mix is.  Any body know of any aftermarket fuel systems for the 2.5 (other than clifford's $2k system) or do I have to make that too?

You could always do megasquirt... I am still trying to do this, but my board doesnt respond anymore. I had started to wire things up this past weekend, but now my ECU doesnt respond to anything. I believe I tapped into the wrong wire for the Tach input and may have fried the processor. I ordered a new one today, so hopefully thats what the problem is, otherwise its going to suck trying to figure out what is not working. I'm leaving all of the wiring for the stock ECU in the jeep just in case though. I have a PLX M300 wideband sending a narrowband signal to the jeep ecu and the wideband signal to megasquirt, i'm using injector clips from one of the honda engine harnesses i had at my house, I added another coolant sensor and intake air temp sensor, and then i tapped into the TPS.

let me know how everything works out with the kit and maybe I'll look into it.  For now I need to go get a afr gauge and find out where I'm at.

I didn't end up frying the processor, i just had to reflash the ecu. I was hoping to have it up and running this weekend but with fathersday it won't happen until next weekend :(
I suggest getting a wideband oxygen sensor kit, as the stock narrowband with a little air fuel guage is not very accurate.

i will try to get something in there to monitor it soon.  I'm not sure if they have a wideband kit that will fit the factory bung and wiring or if I have to cut a new hole.  either way i may pick up a cheapy gauge and just wire in quick to get and idea.  my subie has a cheapy and also an internal monitor through the programmable ecu and they are pretty close to each other.

The suby might have a wideband (I have no clue) but the problem with a narrowband is it sends a signal of 0-1V, with .5V being 14.7... with such a small operating area it jumps around A LOT, whereas the wideband is 0-5V. It is more accurate. Not saying a AFR gauge can't give you an idea of where you are, but if you can afford a wideband kit get one. I have the PLX M300, i have it in the stock O2 location with the narrowband output going to the stock PCM and the wideband output going to megasquirt.
