YJ Air Box Restrictor/Emissions Venturi

OK, I've decided to put this one up finally.  There's a big debate on whether thing actually works or not though.  So it's up to you to judge for yourself.

There are two restrictions in the air box.  The first is fairly easy to get to.  It's on the front of the box.  There is a squarish tube called the 'air inlet' that passes though the front grill, right behind the driver side turn signal.  You will need to unclip the air box to make enough room to remove it since it passes through the grill a few inches.  There are three clips.  You can't miss them.  One on the left and right side of the box as well as one in the front.  Once that's done the air inlet should pull forward away from the box.

The second one is up to a lot of debate.  This one is harder to get to as well.  The easiest way is to unhook the top of the air box and take it off.  You will need to loosen the clamp on the rubber hose first.  To do this the easiest way is to use a standard screwdriver and wedge it between the teeth of the clamp and pry upwards, it will pop off.

Take a good look at the outlet.  You will notice there is a plastic sleeve inside the passageway.  There are two slots on either side of the outlet with tabs holding the sleeve in place.  Instead of fighting with one tab at a time stick the outlet into a vice.  Squeeze the neck of the sleeve enough to compress the tabs.  Don't squeeze the whole outlet, the sleeve has a 1/8" lip that extends past the outlet, squeeze that.  Then take a standard screwdriver and wedge it between the lip and the outlet then twist.  The sleeve to move slightly.  Now take some WD-40 and spray it into that gap you've made.  make sure you get all the way around.  Also check the inside of the box and spray some on the other end.  You want to WD-40 to go inside.  There are two O-rings that are attaches to the sleeve.  If you haven't noticed, this is why the sleeve springs back after you tug on it.  Once you get the sleeve to about 1/4" you should be able to grab it and twist it around.  Once the seal is lubricated it should just slide out.

That's all there is to it.
