« on: November 23, 2007, 06:36:22 PM »
driving along all of a sudden jeep veers to the left in to a guard rail at 65. does a spins around almost flips, i think my wheel spacers saved me. the guuy ehind me told me he was 99% sure i was flipping. anyway i was going north bound originally, i ended up facing southbound. im not sure if my tire blew, b/c my steering knuckle is sheered straight in half. along with the drivers side spring perch ripped outta the frame the tcase smashed i think the trans ****ed up. motor still runs tho. honestly im just happy to be alive and to have walked away from that with just being sore. here are bad pictures, ill have better ones morrow, im also gonna start to strip it morow b4 insurance sees it. thats if im not to sore.

Wow, glad your OK.  When you get a chance to sit down and pick the seat out of your butt, could you take some better pictures?  I'd like to see what happened.  It doesn't look like it would be totaled.  Went a new front perch and swap in a new front axle and transfer case.  The transmission should be OK.  The transfer case took damage as the driveshaft bottomed out.

Glad to see you made it through that with nothing more than being sore. Looks like it was a hell of a ride. Like Jeffy said...some better photos would be nice.

Glad ur OK... WOW.

If you get it totaled out... ask about buying it back. Then you get a check and can fix it up or part it out.

Dig out the receipts for any recent upgrades you made so  your isurance company will compensate you, if they total it.

got better pictures  nd figured out wht happened.  brake rotor cracked took out a nice chunk of the pad and locked up that wheel, causing worlds biggest brake pull.  hitting the rail broke the steering knuckle nd the tire well thats obv damage.  the frame is quite twisted, springs rearced tcase gone and so on and so fourth.  i got collision and im bout to go searching for recipts.

Poor Jeep looks pretty sad, You are a very lucky young man to have walked away wihout bodily harm. The Jeep can be replaced. Glad you are ok. I guess a thorough check before a trip would not hurt since we do tend to abuse our Jeeps. Cracked rotors is something that can be spotted fairly easily Stuff happens but never hurts to try and keep trouble to a minimum. Not saying it was avoidable but could have been spotted and avoided a lot of hurt

Wow, those picts aren't much better.   :wall:

Since the frame is twisted, they will probably total it.  Hope you have full coverage.

I'm sure you can recoupe a lot of it by parting it out.

That is a miracle for you to be typing this right now. Wow.

Get another YJ steal the parts you want, part out what you can, and scrap the rest at the steel recy.

Good luck dealing with ins. They're your best friend until you need them.

Dude...... Glad you're OK....
I hit a sunfire head-on a few years ago, Ins. totaled my vehicle and let me buy it back, but fonked the title all up, I got 4 tickets for no registration and kept sending them to the ins. co., then one day they sent me the title(4 years later)....
It sonks and you HAVE to stay on them about the title if you buy it back from them.

On the lighter side of things, hitting a car head on was fun untill I landed... Sunfire's make good ramps, If you get a choice next time, go for a small car, not a guard rail.
