Title: INTAKE BORE
Post by: dirtyjeep95 on March 19, 2007, 05:54:41 PM: if you put a 4.0 throttle body from an xj on a 2.5 do you have to bore out the hole in the intake? sorry, if it's a dumb question but i'm new to this jeep thing

how much bigger is the hole in the 4.0 compared to the hole in the 2.5 intake?

Post by: YJmechanic on March 21, 2007, 06:24:32 AM: in the long run it is worth matching your intake but probably only if you have the need for that kind of air. if you are running a mostly stock setup then i would just put it on and you're good. if you have your motor pretty hopped up like mine then it would be worth it. i would say if you don't have a full exhaust and intake with fuel upgrades it is probably not worht it to you.

The negative effects would be getting too much air and causing air/fuel problems. (ie., hickups/missfires) It will probably move your powerband further up the RPM range so you might lose some low-end.

Some people use a 2" sanding drum. Some people have used die grinders or even a Dremel.You could also use a slapper wheel to finish it off and make it round again. It might be worth it to try and taper the lip some and see if that does anything.
