Is this on a YJ?  There was a recall for the pedal assembly you want to ask about.

The reason why it pops is because the thing is flexing enough that the gear holding it releases.  I haven't replaced mine but then I take some care with it.  Although if yours pops all the time get it replaced before you find your Jeep in someone else's car.

I believe this covers 1990-1995 YJ's.  It's a safety recall and will be done free of charge.

I had mine replaced after I came out one winter morning after letting mine warm up for a few and found it in the neighbors front yard acroos the street. Luckily nobody happened to be there :yikes:

I thought somebody stole it at first because it was so dark that I couldnt see it across the street and I wasnt expecting it to be over there

Awh who needs a parking break there over rated, just use a big rock!

Sometime I need to install one, my 8.8 did not work so well with the turdy 5 unit, and now my roll cage blocks e-brake. I have a pull break from a xj just need to fab it up so it works.
