Title: Am I going to need an adjustable trackbar?
Post by: dexetr30 on December 30, 2008, 04:51:37 PM
Am I going to need an adjustable trackbar after I add my 3/4" BB to my already existing 1 3/4" Rubi suspension lift? Was looking around on JF and some people say yes... others say no. Anyone have any experience they can share?

I have the same ?, as this Saturday I will be adding my rubicon springs to my RE BB. I think I will have about 3" of lift and from what I have heard is that it is not necessary but makes it eaiser for alinment purposes!

I have heard that the rear track bar drop bracket is needed though? I bought mine along with my Rubi springs.

I'm hoping i wont need a TC drop, because I didn't order one. I hope the longer bolts with washers will do the trick!

Also if you look at most 3" and some 4" lift kit's they dont include and adjustable front track bar but they all come with the rear track bar bracket.

you can easily make your own TC lowering kit, some retangular pipe of 1 inch would be enough.
also for lifts around 4" a dropped pitmann arm is very recommendable

Yeah, I noticed that last night after I posted the question. With the combination I have I should only be around 2.5" so I'm wondering if a bracket would be necessary in the rear. It seems as though the front isn't as much of a problem... or is it?

Anyone... anyone????

One of the reasons for the rear trackbar bracket it to raise the axle end up, as well as centering the axle when you lift it it raises the body and frame up. The steeper the angle of the trackbar the more it shakes its but on and of the highway. Ideally you want the rear trackbar to lay flat if at all possible will ride much better on road and also helps rear steer offroad

Ok, so if I got it correctly... The rear trackbar should run as parallel as possible to the axle? If this is the case then I will pay attention to how things line up once I get the BB installed and make any changes as necessary. The BB isn't scheduled for delivery until the 5th so I'll get it installed within a few days after that.

Yup that is the idea, might not be feasable but the closer to horizontal at ride height the better. I ran my lift with out a bracket at first and hated the side to side kicking, then I raised the axle end up rode much better.
Still wasn't happy though even though it was a dramatic improvement, especially offroad. Still kicked me around some also did not like the rear steer while offroading, changed the upper control arms for a trilink and got rid of the trackbar and now I am happy, the latest addition is a huge improvent, I think the suspension is ab out as good as its going to get for a short arm lift, it also gave it some anti squad and better traction going up the steep climbs
